Brian S. Campf was a Portland attorney and a prominent collector of early Oregon and national sports photography. He was a graduate of Reed College and Willamette University College of Law. Carl Abbott is professor emeritus of urban studies and planning at Portland State University. He is the author of many books, including Portland in Three Centuries: The Place and the People. John T. Hawk is head of Special Collections & University Archives at Gleeson Library at the University of San Francisco. He is the author of Mallette Dean, a Printmaker and His Art.
