Praise for the new edition:
An excellent introduction to using SPSS for data analysis ... It provides a self-contained resource itself, with more than simply (detailed and clear) step-by-step descriptions of statistical procedures in SPSS. There is also a wealth of tips and advice, and for each statistical technique a brief, but consistently reliable, explanation is provided. - Associate Professor George Dunbar, Department of Psychology, University of Warwick, UK
The SPSS Survival Manual provides a clear and accessible workbook for using SPSS for all students using this statistics package. SPSS is most commonly used as part of a social science degree, such as psychology, and although the book is not specific to particular disciplines in fits particularly well to the needs of psychology students. The book shows students through the complete process, from choosing the right data analysis techniques, formulating the right questions, to designing the analysis of data, and reporting results.
The new edition is primarily an update to reflect the new features of version 15 of the SPSS software but the book still provides a lifeline for students and researchers grappling with SPSS.
Statistical techniques covered include: Descriptive statistics Correlation Multiple regression Logistic regression Factor analysis t-tests Analysis of variance Multivariate analysis of variance Analysis of covariance Non-parametric tests
For both beginners and experienced SPSS users in psychology, education, business, sociology, health and related disciplines, The SPSS Survival Manual is an essential guide. Illustrated with screen grabs, examples of output and tips, it is supported by a website with sample data and guidelines on report writing.
