The Sr¿ Anand S¿hib is a prayer written by the third Sikh Gur¿, Sr¿ Gur¿ Amard¿s J¿ and is the most commonly uttered prayer from the Sr¿ Gur¿ Granth S¿hib J¿. This prayer is uttered at any religious Sikh event from births to death. There are many stories told for the reason this prayer was uttered which can be found in various commentaries and pre colonial texts such as the Sr¿ Gurpart¿p S¿raj Park¿sh Granth. This commentary is very different. It is a commentary by the great Nirmal¿ scholar, Mahant Ganesh¿ Singh. Unlike other Nirmal¿s his commentaries are pretty basic but the essence of the definitions is not lost within the simplicity. I wanted to provide both the original commentary in Gurmukh¿ along with a translation of the commentary. This is due to the fact that this commentary has been out of print for a significant amount of time and to those seekers of the original commentary it is available again.
