The Sr¿ Jap J¿ S¿hib is a prayer written by the first Sikh Gur¿, Sr¿ Gur¿ N¿nak Dev J¿ and is the initial prayer from the Sr¿ Gur¿ Granth S¿hib J¿. This prayer is uttered as the initial prayer within the Sikh Nitnem which are the daily prayers to be read. The Sr¿ Jap J¿ S¿hib within is a prayer that takes around twenty minutes to recite but its definitions seem to be endless. A lot of the commentaries on this text vary in depth and can sometimes be overbearing for the seeker. This commentary is very different. It is a commentary by the great Nirmal¿ scholar, Mahant Ganesh¿ Singh. Unlike other Nirmal¿s his commentaries are pretty basic but the essence of the definitions is not lost within the simplicity. I wanted to provide both the original commentary in Gurmukh¿ along with a translation of the commentary. This is due to the fact that this commentary has been out of print for a significant amount of time and to those seekers of the original commentary it is available again.
