This book contains a description of the land and its people of what is now St. Clair County, Alabama from 1534 to 1846. Originally compiled by W. H. Cather, and published in several articles during 1897 by the local Ashville newspaper, the Southern Aegis. These articles were collected, and combined into a booklet published by the St. Clair County Library Board as a special project for National Library Week on April 29, 1965 at the annual open meeting.
