St Mildred Bread Street was a church in Bread Street Ward of the City of London dedicated to the 7th century Saint Mildred the Virgin, daughter of Merewald, Sub-king of the West Mercians. The church was founded in the 13th century, had a vestry and court yard bequeathed in 1428 and a stained glass montage added in 1628. A prosperous parish,it was totally destroyed in the Great London Fire of 1666 and rebuilt to a design by Sir Christopher Wren in 1683 at a cost of Pds. 3,705 13s 6d. The poet Shelley was married there in 1816.
