Produktbeschreibung
The application of superconductors to electric power apparatus such as generators is considered a key technology for the current century. The interest in the applications of superconductivity to electric power systems stems from the promise that superconducting apparatus could be smaller, lighter, and more efficient than their conventional counterparts. The advent of high temperature superconducting (HTS) wires has increased the potential for effective applications of superconductivity in power system industry. This book first provides a thorough review of many techniques reported in the literature for stability enhancement and performance improvement of the superconducting generators (SCGs). The book also highlightes the important issues of the application of FACTS devices to enhance damping of conventional generator oscillations. The work reported in this book was mainly aimed at the development and design of efficient SVC-based stabilizers (in coordination with the governor controller) for superconducting generators using AI techniques, and to investigate the performance of a SCG-infinite bus system with various SVC-based stabilizers.
