Among the examples studied closely are designs by Eva Jiricna, Richard Rogers, Philip Johnson and Richard Meier. Each case study is analysed through large-scale detail drawings and photographs. The Author describes the genesis and historical revision of the stair as a design element of fundamental neccesity. Detailed texts also accompany the case studies.
