In this inviting and insightful book, Dr. Long presents the Psalms of Ascent (Psalms 120-134) as both a primer for those new to the journey of faith and an advanced guide for those who have long walked the road of faith. His key insight is to look at the Psalms of Ascent as a map or template of the spiritual life. Though rooted in the experience of the people of Israel, these Psalms also resonate today for anyone seeking deeper spiritual knowledge. Whether you are examining your current location and commitments in the world, going on a life-changing pilgrimage, getting established in faith, dealing with recurrent invasions of your past life into your present circumstances, or learning to live faithfully and celebrate the unity of the people of God, the Psalms of Ascent will help you. They explore themes of isolation, journey, arrival, second thoughts, fruitfulness, recurrent despair, hope, and unity. In each chapter, Dr. Long provides both detailed examination of the language of one of the Psalms as well as a "Psalm in a Nutshell" that gives you its major point.
