Chrysophyllum cainito is a tropical tree of the family Sapotaceae. It is found throughout the Caribbean Region, Central America, northern South America, Australia, and some countries of Southeast Asia and Africa. Caimito is nutritious, containing moderate amounts of calcium, phosphorus, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), and a good source of anti-oxidants. Alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, sterols, triterpenes, saponins, tannins and cardiac glycosides were detected during the screening of extract. It has pharmacological activities like Antioxidant, Antidiabetic, Antimicrobial, Antihypertensive, Anti-inflammatory, Wound healing activity.
