He was successful and wealthy by the age of 40. Unfortunately, through a series of poor choices and adverse market conditions, he lost everything and accumulated mountains of debt in the process. Tom had to face the realization that he would be "Starting Over...Over 50", with no money, no degree and no obvious resources to begin again.
