Although the study focuses on the state-building process of Myanmar between 1988 and 2010, it actually traces the politics of development in Myanmar since independence in 1948. It is a study of state-led development process of Myanmar in line with the developmental state theory and in comparison with the state-led development of Indonesia under Suharto's regime. This book will help readers including politicians, policy makers, international donors, academics, foreign investors, etc. to understand the process of state-building in Myanmar.

Dr Sai Khaing Myo Tun is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of International Relations, University of Yangon, Myanmar. He obtained his PhD degree in International Development from the Graduate School of International Development, Nagoya University, Japan.
