This paper deals with a comparative analysis of the situation of dependency between Belgium and Spain. In order to achieve this objective, we start from the legislation of each of the two countries where we will analyze the most relevant differences between them. Thanks to my Erasmus experience in Belgium, to my studies at the University of Almeria and to my curricular internship in a centre of community social services, I have been able to observe how dependence influences in different areas as well as the great discrimination that occurs in each of them. Therefore, this work presents an analysis of the dependence that is structured in four sections where the following topics are raised: Conceptual approach of the concept of dependence, the situation of dependence in elderly people, situation of dependence in family caregivers (non-professional) and professionals. Finally, a series of conclusions will be drawn that will give meaning to the study carried out.
