The book covers tests concerning Static Power Management (SPM) for the purpose of power reduction. The different cases use different methods including: turning on/off microcontroller peripherals, optimal peripheral utilization, and memory access control. It investigates and takes a deeper look of the possible methods for energy consumption reduction in embedded systems. The approaches can be split in two: hardware and software ones. The following constraints were defined at the beginning of the book, that influenced the research and development till the very last test case: the IC process technology is kept constant; the miC architecture is kept constant; the circuit structure is not changed; no OS is used, only bare-metal firmware; only deeply-embedded microcontrollers are considered in the class of MSP430, ARM Cortex-M0, -M3, -M4 based miC, etc.
