The soil of mustard growing fields of Northern Madhya Pradesh is normal in reaction and soluble salts. Surface soil samples were non calcareous with low to medium organic carbon content. Available Cu and Mn contents were sufficient upto 93.3 percent, whereas Zn and Fe status were found in the deficient to the extent of 46 and 35.3 percent, respectively. The Zn and Fe deficiency increased with an increase in calcium carbonate content, whereas it decreased with an increase in organic carbon content in mustard growing fields of Northern Madhya Pradesh. Based on linear coefficient of correlation, available zinc, copper, manganese and Iron showed positive correlation with clay and organic carbon, and negative correlation with calcium carbonate content in semi-arid regions of mustard growing fields of Northern Madhya Pradesh.
