Autorenporträt
After growing up in Richland, Pennsylvania, a small town surrounded by Amish farms and a community where your parents knew what you did that day before you got home for supper, she attended college outside Philadelphia and Moorhead, Minnesota. She coached at the college level for a couple of years before completing her master's degree in Oregon. She finally landed in a suburb of Dayton, Ohio, where she lives with her wife of forty years. She worked in deafness, HIV/AIDS, and vocational rehabilitation. She ended her career as a research associate in the Substance Abuse Resources and Disability Issues (SARDI) program at Wright State University. In addition, she has served on the board of Trustees of the Deaf Community Resource Center and as was an adjunct instructor at Sinclair Community College Psychology and Interpreter Training Departments and Wright State University School of Medicine. When she's not writing, you can find her puzzling, riding her Harley motorcycle, golfing with her wife and friends, visiting New York City to see Broadway plays, playing pickleball, and every Monday night at one of the houses of their Monday night social club, sharing a meal and laughter with ten other women. This is Valerie's second book. Valerie is working on her third book, Is Her Love Enough? It is about a trained classical pianist, a United Nations interpreter who will become an FBI Special Agent Linguist, and an OBGYN physician who volunteers for Doctors Without Borders and has adopted her best friend's daughter, heir to a major conglomerate. The story follows them as the interpreter learns the meaning of love, and the doctor realizes that life is a constant struggle between relationships and choices overshadowed by the fear of losing those you love. Her first book, For a Lifetime, is about a woman's journey of redemption from burn victim to burn survivor and the roller coaster ride to determine whether to let go of the past or break free to love again. Valerie self-published a non-fiction e-book titled Woman as Leaders? YES, YOU CAN! A 6-Step Formula to Confidently and Powerfully Inspire Others to Follow You as a Leader.
