Martha Melahn is a world traveler, fluent in four languages. Having traveled and spent over two decades abroad, Melahn now resides in South Florida. She began her professional writing career in the early 1960's as a reporter in Germany for United Press (precursor to U.P.I.) and the American newspaper, The Overseas Weekly. Currently, she writes for local newspapers as a contributor to The Miami Herald, Miami Magazine, and The Coconut Grover (where she penned "The Gardening Corner" and a cooking column). Stealing Eyes is Melahn's extensively researched fictional novel. It follows Wave of Destiny, Encounter with Destiny and Legendary Dining. Melahn writes within romantic themes, based on historical events. She is the daughter of Dr. John Clayton Gifford, famed botanist, noted writer and Florida pioneer, for whom the Gifford Arboretum at the University of Miami is named. Melahn was formerly married to architect Alfred Browning Parker, and European expatriate entrepreneur, Harold Melahn. She is the mother of six children.
