In 1927 he designed the first welded road bridge in the world. The bridge was later built across the river S udwia Maurzyce near owicz, Poland in 1929. It was still in use in 1977 but plans were to replace it with a wider structure. The government proposed to install the bridge at site slightly upstream as a historical monument. In 1995, the American Welding Society presented an Historic Welded Structure Award for the bridge to Poland.
