Stem cell biology has become an important field for the understanding of tissue regeneration and implementation of regenerative medicine. The discovery of dental stem cells and recent advances in cellular and molecular biology have led to the development of novel therapeutic strategies that aim at the regeneration of oral tissues that were injured by diseases or trauma. Medicine and dentistry are on the cusp of a new treatment modality. Recent exciting new discoveries place dentists at the fore front for helping their patients from potentially life-saving therapies derived from patient's own stem cells.
