Mary Venable-Vaughn is a lifelong Indianapolis native and founder of Community & Faith Outreach Initiative, Inc. (2007), supporting grandparents and foster parents in raising children. She authored Member's Class 102, a manual for Bible study and new members' classes, and Stepping into Discipleship: Our Journey Begins. A devoted member of the AME Church, Mary is inspired by Joshua 24:15: "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." She is the widow of Rev. Emmanuel J. Vaughn and a mother of four.
