This book aims to identify the interface between the work process developed in the Sterile Materials Center and its relationship with the surgical patient. The following thematic categories were constructed from a full and analytical-reflective reading of the studies: The activities of the nursing team in the Sterile Materials Center; The potential for infection transmission according to the classification of articles and The importance of the Sterile Materials Center in the safety of surgical patients. The interface between the work process developed in the CME and its relationship with the safety of surgical patients occurs especially when we consider that the nursing work developed in this unit is directly focused on the annihilation of the most varied forms of pathogenic microorganisms present in medical-dental-hospital articles, that is, in articles referred to as health products, since many of these microorganisms make up the epidemiological profile of the most recurrent infections in the hospital environment.
