Stephen Henry Perry (born October 8, 1963) is an American musician, best known for being the lead singer-songwriter and occasional rhythm guitarist for the Oregon rock/swing/ska band the Cherry Poppin' Daddies, of which he is the founding member. According to Perry, his mother sent him a copy of The Smithsonian Collection of Classic Jazz as a gift, sparking a fascination with swing and jazz and eventually giving him the idea to fuse both swing and punk together in an attempt to create music people reacted to viscerally rather than passively. Composing a few songs in that vein, he and Schmid assembled what would become the Cherry Poppin' Daddies in November 1988. Perry spent the entirety of the 1990s playing with the Daddies, juggling a number of odd jobs prior to their success, including a telephone dispatcher, a construction worker, a "squid man" in a Greek restaurant and the owner of an avante-garde video store.
