The great promises of God in his word to his faithful stewards are by no means idle words nor exaggerations. God is still waiting to open the windows of heaven and pour out his blessings. The great promises of God in his word to his faithful stewards are by no means idle words nor exaggerations. God is still waiting to open the windows of heaven and pour out his blessings. Kauffman examines the implications of the Bible's teachings regarding the proper stewardships of our lives, our abilities, and our possessions. His emphasis is much broader than money, but he makes a vigorous plea for increased giving and assures the reader of new blessings from God. Is it fair for one family to have more food than they can eat, more money than they can spend, more clothes than they can wear, and more houses than they can live in while other families have no food to eat, no money to spend, only rags to wear, and no roof over their heads? Christian stewardship demands that we share and that we teach others to share. Energy crises, depletion of natural resources, and the hunger in the world call into question the morality of affluence. If humanity is to survive, we must become better stewards. Those who read this book will develop a new appreciation for God's generosity to us and a new sense of responsibility for making the best use of his gifts.
Autorenporträt
Milo Kauffman was born on February 13, 1898, near Harrisonville, Missouri. He spent his boyhood years on a farm in North Dakota. He received his B.A. from Hesston College, a B.D. from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, the MA from McCormick, and the S.T.D. from Pikes Peak Seminary. From 1932 to 1951 he was president of Hesston College, and since that time has served intermittently on the faculty. He was asked to prepare the Conrad Grebel Lectures in 1953 on Christian stewardship. These lectures were published as The Challenge of Christian Stewardship. The book went through five printings and enjoyed a wide acceptance. IN 1962 Kauffman was asked by the Mennonite Board of Missions to deliver the lectures to churches and Christian groups in India and Japan. Kauffman was ordained to the ministry in 1924 and held pastorates in Kansas and Illinois. He served widely in evangelistic meetings and Bible conferences, as well as on church boards and committees.
