Driving lessons that would take me on a journey lasting 34 years? Now that's what I call getting one's money's worth! And that was just the beginning . . . Stitches in the Tapestry of Time examines life as just that: a tapestry of fifty years of delights, disasters, and all points in between from 1971 to 2021. An unusual love story gives rise to an equally special family. The fables and foibles of all things parenting. The harvest of another perfect pairing that yields that most precious of fruit: grandkids! Nursing: rarely a more demanding profession! The Covid-19 pandemic, now thankfully showing signs of waning in most parts of the world, has furnished graphic evidence of that. Yet for me it provided another 34-year span of getting paid for doing what I loved: teaching and mentoring the next generation. This makes me a member of the rarest of breeds: I never worked a day in my life! The delights of residing in a country setting within a large urban area, the pleasures, ploys and plights of legions of pre-furred and feathered friends: they're all here to amuse and amaze you, just as they continue to do so for me. Finally, I share a spiritual journey that has often brought me to my knees. A very personal voyage, not to be confused with religion. I share these insights while respecting all worldviews. This and more awaits you, both in prose and poetry. It has been a fabulous fifty years. Travel it with me as together we examine Stitches in the Tapestry of Time. Did I drop a few stitches? Take a closer look!Hinweis: Dieser Artikel kann nur an eine deutsche Lieferadresse ausgeliefert werden.
Diane Ingram is a retired professor of nursing who lives in Manotick, where the family arrived in 1950 when her father, a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, was posted there from Edmonton, Alberta. At that time, it was a welcoming farming village nestled along the scenic Rideau River. She recalls a road sign proclaiming a population of 500. Growth since then in the number of people choosing to call Manotick home makes it close to ten times as friendly now. Today, Manotick is a suburb of Canada's capital, Ottawa, Ontario. But the Tick remains a gem of rural life within the city. A place where, in a soon-to-be grateful post-pandemic world, friends will gather again on porches and patios to laugh and share Tick talk. A place where merchants know their clients by first names. A place like none other to those who cherish memories of its gentle past while embracing future possibilities. Diane is devoted to the under-privileged wherever she finds them, to animal advocacy, to the simple pleasures of nature, and to exploring the spiritual aspects of life. She treasures memories of her father, brother and husband while delighting in the next generations: Jason and Regan and her beloved grandkids, Keelyn and Connor. Stitches in the tapestry that these threads have woven over the past fifty years are recorded here in both prose and poetry as her gift to them, and to the many friends who asked and waited patiently for her to compile them.
