Max Amato is the author and illustrator of several picture books. His stories use uncommon characters to explore themes that defined his childhood: perfectionism, companionship, identity, creativity, competitiveness, and of course, dinosaurs. In addition to his work in children's books, Max is an independent graphic designer and art director, working primarily in brand identity for clients in sports, music, technology, and fashion. Max grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland, and studied graphic design at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia before moving to Brooklyn, NY, where he lives in an apartment with lots of character but no washer/dryer. When he is not writing children's books you can find him playing basketball, sketching furniture designs in the park, attending concerts, visiting art galleries, and people watching.
