Heenan has been an assistant basketball coach at Vanguard University from 2012 until present. His love for writing about his faith and basketball has led him to put together this book, Stories from the Sidelines. In addition to coaching basketball, Kevin has worked as a Mortgage Banker in Newport Beach, California for the past thirty-seven years. Along with his wife of forty years, Debbie, they've raised four children; Ryan (wife Cori), Dennis (wife Kelsey), Jamie (husband Tucker), and Kelly and they currently have three grandchildren; Cooper, Kendall, and Coby. Kevin's biggest hobby is his love for food and cooking and has an active Instagram account @kevins_kitchen. Kevin and Debbie have resided in Costa Mesa, California for the past thirty-seven years.
