Dr. Veronica Hunnicutt is a renowned educator. She has spent forty-five years as an English teacher in middle schools, high schools, and community colleges and served as the Chair of African American Studies, Coordinator of the Partnerships to Achieve Academic Success, Co-Founder of the African American Achievement Program, Dean of the Southeast Campus, and Dean of the Office of Student Affairs at City College of San Francisco. Dr. Hunnicutt has extensive community organizing and development experience and has served as a member of the Mayor's Citizens' Advisory Committee for Community Development, as a Commissioner on the Commission on the Status of Women, and as a Commissioner of the San Francisco Housing Authority. She is presently the Chair of the Citizens' Advisory Committee for the Shipyard and a Board Member of the Alliance for Girls. She has received numerous commendations for her work, including being selected for a special award for service to San Francisco residents in 1983 from Mayor Dianne Feinstein, having a day named in her honor in 2000 by Mayor Willie Brown, and being selected as a Local Hero by KQED, Union Bank, and Kaiser Permanente in 2005. She was recently selected as the Woman of the Year in 2018 by Senator Scott Weiner of the 11th District. Dr. Hunnicutt is committed to God and manifesting His and Christ's love by serving others. Dr. Hunnicutt is especially devoted to helping young people to be successful in life, so they can accomplish their life goals and become the leaders this country desperately needs. She wants them to survive and thrive!
