THEY HAD THE ARK, BUT NOT THE GLORY. It is not enough to be the son of a priest; you must be a priest, and a faithful priest; although the story of Hophni and Phinehas happened thousands of years ago, incredible as it may seem, it is directly related to what is happening within the conventions and the church today. It has become commonplace for old pastors to practically push their sons, many of whom practice practices similar to those of Eli's sons, to negotiate with local ministries and use their influence within the convention to consecrate sons and sons-in-law who will replace them, who do not meet the minimum requirements to take over a congregation, let alone a field, with hundreds or thousands of sheep, who will depend on this individual for spiritual guidance and to be fed with sound doctrine, who literally fell out of the blue (known in conventional circles as baby whales) and in the words of a late pastor who presides over a convention in the Northeast, they are not anointed but spat upon, because according to him, their parents and in-laws forced him to consecrate such individuals. It is deplorable and worrying what they are doing to such an excellent work as the ministry. Unfortunately, we have to recognize that the anointing and the priestly stole do not make men like Hophni and Phinehas priests of the Most High, they do not transform unfaithful pastors into pastors according to God's heart, they do not transform children, grandchildren and sons-in-law of pastors into the Lord's anointed; even if they are recognized as men of God and have rendered relevant services to the church and the cause of the gospel.
