Dr. James L. Clark served at Calvary Bible College and Theological Seminary for 23 years. June 30, 2016, he retired as President for seven years. He is the only president that graduated from the college. He is now serving as President Emeritus for Calvary University. During his tenure, he served as Vice President and Academic Dean. He also served as the Accreditation Coordinator, as Professor in Biblical Counseling, and as Director/Counselor of the Biblical Counseling and Education Centers of Calvary Bible College and Theological Seminary. His educational accomplishments include a Doctor of Philosophy/Biblical Counseling at the Trinity Theological Seminary, Newburgh, Indiana 1993, a Master of Divinity/Summa Cum Laude in 1989 from the Trinity Theological Seminary, Newburgh, Indiana, graduate work at Bethel Theological Seminary, St. Paul, Minnesota, and a Bachelor of Science/Christian Education and Music 1967, from Calvary Bible College, Kansas City, Missouri. Ministry Experience Prior to joining the College and Seminary faculty, he served 22 years in local church ministries as associate pastor and senior pastor. He also served as a chaplain for a community college, a Minnesota correctional facility, and a volunteer fire department. Prior to the pastorate, he served as an Executive Director for Southeast Iowa Youth For Christ. Professional Associations His professional associations include, Director of the "Biblical Counseling Network Fellowship," an organization for networking counselors, pastors, and others in the Kansas City area. He has served on the Board of Regents of Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary, as well as an adjunct faculty member for Trinity and Masters Divinity School. He also served on the Board of Directors of Avant Ministries. Dr. Clark is currently the chairman of the Board of Trustees for Brookes Bible College in St. Louis, MO. Publications & Awards He is the editor of "Blueprints: A Practical Guide for Developing A Biblical Counseling Ministry" as well as "Volumes I and II of Biblical Counseling Homework Manuals." He is the author of the booklet, "Strengthen Your Marriage." He received the award, Alumnus of the Year 2003, Calvary Bible College and Theological Seminary. Upon his retirement in 2016, Calvary University renamed the Learning Center, "The Clark Academic Center" in honor of his establishment, support and faithful service to all Calvary students. Calvary also honored him with the title, "President Emeritus." Dr. Clark has served as an interim preacher at several churches, enjoys speaking for seminars, conferences, retreats, camps, and local churches. Dr. Clark and his wife, DeLoris, have three children and fifteen grandchildren.
