Data management at the Douala General Hospital (DGH) does not meet standards. An assessment of the completeness of the activity reports from the hospital's entry points received at the Medical Statistics and Epidemiological Surveillance Unit shows a low completeness of 56% as of May 2020. The factors underlying this low completeness are inadequacies in the data synthesis tools, inadequate human and material resources dedicated to data management, and non-compliance with data management standards and procedures. The consequences include rejection of partial data received at the Statistics and Epidemiological Surveillance Unit, loss of time and funds committed to health programs, late detection of epidemics, variability and subjectivity in the work leading to demotivation. Three strategic options are proposed. Health actors must be made aware of data management. The cost of the Action Plan to make this problem vulnerable amounts to 22,660,000 (twenty-two million six hundred and sixty thousand) CFA francs.
