O Dr. Irshad Ahmad Rather completou o seu doutoramento em Biotecnologia pelo GNDU Amritsar em 2016 (com o Dr. Sumit Gandhi, Sr. Cientista, CSIR-IIIM Jammu). Foi-lhe atribuído o DST-SERB N.PDF (SKUST-K). Apresentou o seu trabalho em várias conferências nacionais e internas e publicou em periódicos de renome. Actualmente, trabalha como professor de Biotecnologia.
