Since 2004, the US Department of Defense (DoD) has experienced a great enlightenment in how it responds to allegations of sexual assault with the establishment of the DoD Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) program. A background summary of the SAPR program relevant to this study has been included in this report as Annex A. Combining the significant gains made in the civilian sector in the form of better integration of various response organizations with the particulars of the military environment, the DoD committed to an improved community and victim-focused response to the problem of sexual assault in the ranks.
