The purpose of this study was to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the In-service Subject Based Teachers Training Program (SBTTP) of Higher Secondary teachers Training Institutes (HSTTI), Bangladesh. The descriptive method allowed looking at the existing program and discovered its strengths as well as weaknesses. Most of the participants were satisfied with the existing training program but a few suggested that the content area be reviewed and to improve the trainers performances especially on the use of audio visual aids along with improvements of training facilities to make the training program more effective. The findings of this study are very important for HSTTIs that could be used for restructuring a more effective model for the betterment of the existing in-service Subject Based Teachers Training Program (SBTTP) . Furthermore the findings of this study can help the Directorate of secondary and higher education (DSHE), Ministry of education (MoE), Bangladesh, as well as the related organizations to re-examine the existing training programs.

Md.Halim Sarwar is working as an Assistant Director in Higher Secondary Teachers Training Institute (HSTTI) Mymensingh, Bangladesh. He has been functioning as a teacher trainer for the last 15 years. He obtained the degree of M. Ed major in Educational Leadership and Management from the University of De La Salle, Philippine.
