Construction and Demolition (C&D) debris/waste disposal influences restrict natural resources excavation. Recycling offers an array of benefits such as mitigating the call for new alternatives, minimizing logistics and manufacturing costs, reusing waste to prevent landfills etc. In this research work, the accumulated debris/waste obtained from the C&D was used as an alternative aggregate component. In this study, C&D were collected from nearby demolition site located in Chennai. The demolished material was collected, segregated and treated. Four treatment processes such as thermal, cement, fly ash and acid treatment were carried out on the collected aggregate. Six samples such as conventional concrete in which natural aggregate is used, acid treated, untreated, thermal treated, cement treated, fly ash treated recycled aggregate were selected to prepare structural components, combined with different percentages with natural coarse aggregate to obtain appropriate concrete mix. The obtained concrete mix was tested for its strength and durability properties. Scanning Electron Microscopy and Fourier Transform-Infra Red spectroscopy analysis were conducted to warrant our study.
