Federalization, decentralization, and territorial self-governance are proven means of averting conflict. Conflict prevention means a turning-away from the cultural monopolism of nation-states.

CHRISTIAN P. SCHERRER is Senior Researcher in Conflict and Peace Studies at Copenhagen Peace Research Institute, COPRI, Denmark. He is the editor/author of conflict and post-conflict related analysis and studies. His pioneering work on Ethnicity and State in Conflict are published as the first ever handbooks series on Ethno-nationalism.
