This study was designed to gain a better understanding of the interrelation between student engagement, student achievement and teacher-student relationship. Further, through teacher behaviors reflected teacher and student relationship and then indicated the effective of teacher behavior in student engagement and achievement. Interestingly, teachers' classroom behaviors were in fact found to be interpreted significantly differently by high and low achievers, which would shape their different perceptions of their relationship with their teachers. An implication of the findings of this study is that the English language teachers need to show more understanding and helping but less admonishing behaviors to low achievers so as to promote their classroom engagement for English learning.
