In 2004 Myanmar Education department found that the majority of teachers are accustomed with teaching traditional way in Myanmar. In Laiza high school teachers are weaknesses at doing academic activities due to difficulty of teaching materials, being busy and inadequate salary according to headmistress response. These factors indicated that students were less motivated to learn in school. Therefore, researcher decided and conducted study to know students' real learning motivation. Intrinsic and extrinsic motivation was used as the major theories of this study. The purposes of this study are to determine the levels of students' learning motivation and to compare the student's learning motivation according to their gender and grade. The research conducted to a total of 139 students from grade 10 and 11 as the target group. The study used a questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed by Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard deviation and independent samples t-test. This is the first research paper in Laiza high school. It will give knowledge and information to school leaders, teachers and future researcher about how motivation is prominent in students' learning in school.
