Acids and bases are widely used among many chemists.
The more it is known about the properties of acids
and bases in certain solvent, the easier it is to
choose the suitable compound for system under study.
In this work, hundreds of pKa values of neutral and
cationic acids have been presented in acetonitrile,
tetrahydrofuran and 1,2-dichloroethane. Superbases
are investigated in less acidic solvent
tetrahydrofuran, superacids are studied in 1,2-
dichloroethane. In acetonitrile, two scales
acidity scale and basicity scale are composed to the
full possible span. These two scales are
irreplaceable tools for further acid-base studies.
In this work many new types of compounds have been
presented superbasic guanidinophosphazenes, basic
alkyl-substituted guanidines and highly sterically
strained and often strong acidic properties having
pentakis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl derivatives. pKa
values of many of those compounds have been measured
which shows us exactly the acidic-basic properties
of mentioned compounds. This book is certainly
necessary tool for chemists working with acids and
bases.
