In the present context the potential of tea waste as an adsorbent for the removal of copper from synthetic waste water by adsorption is discussed. The basic experimentation followed is that tea powder collected was washed and filtered to separate the alkaloids since the decoction is separated and solid tea powder is dried. In the present context the potential of tea waste as an adsorbent for the removal of copper from synthetic waste water by adsorption is discussed. The basic experimentation followed is that tea powder collected was washed and filtered to separate the alkaloids since the decoction is separated and solid tea powder is dried. Initially we have carried out experimentation on the one of adsorption effecting variable keeping the other variables constant. We have conducted experiments to study the effect of the adsorbent dosage, contact time, solution pH, on the metal uptake and percentage removal of copper by batch experiments. Further, an attempt is made to study adsorption kinetics of Langmuir and Freundlich models Percentage removal of copper Cu (II) is found to be 59.84% at pH 5 for 1gm of tea waste. The results obtained from the study shows that proposed adsorbent is very useful to remove copper from waste water. This work will be very useful for the environmentalists, chemists and students of chemical and civil engineering.
