Industrial Effluent was treated with the both plants comparitively and the one resulted in most denirification was used for column processing, along with the pretreatment technique called coagulation and flocculation was carried out to remove the total suspended solids, odor and some extent of color was removed. Coagulation and Flocculation was carried out in as a pretreatment technique with Coagulant aids like Alum, CaCo3, and PVA. The pretreatment technique was carried out by varying the amounts alum (v/v), and contact time (min). After the pretreatment of the steel plant effluent, both the adopted treatment techniques were carried out. Hence the comparative study between the two leguminous plants, Tamarindus indica and the Vigna radiata reduced the nitrates to an extent and the immobilization step lead to the maximum extent of denitrification.
