Propineb is the active substance used in various protectant foliar fungicide products, and belongs to the dithiocarbamate group of compounds. It is used as a protective treatment on several crops for the control of various fungi, especially Oomycetes, Ascomycetes, Basidiomycetes and fungi imperfecti. The present study was carried out to evaluate the persistence of Propineb (Antracol 70 WP) in onion and tea. Field experiments were conducted with Propineb @ 1225 g a.i./ha (T1), 2450 g a.i./ha (T2) applied in onion and @ 1750 g a.i./ha (T1) and 3500 g a.i./ha (T2) applied in tea, each having three replication in separate plots of onion and tea. Sampling was done at different intervals and the samples were acid digested and quantified by UV-VIS spectrophotometer. It can be concluded from the result that immature as well as mature onion could be consumed even after 2 hours of application. In case of tea, green tea leaves should be plucked after 14 days of spraying at the recommended dose of Antracol 70 WP from the view point of consumer's safety.
