Vapour compression refrigeration systems are widely used in the World for heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) applications. High grade energy consumption and environmental degradation due to harmful refrigerants are the major issues with the HVACR industries. Presently, R134a refrigerant is widely used in the HVACR applications because of its good thermodynamic properties, but the global warming potential (GWP) is 1430 which is quite high considering the global environmental norms. In the present book, experimental study of environmental friendly alternative refrigerants to R134a such as R152a, R600a, R290 and mixture of R290/R600a (50/50 by wt %) are tested by using minichannel condenser using the fabricated versatile vapour compression refrigeration system test rig. Minichannel condenser presents opportunities for reducing refrigerant charge while increasing refrigerant side heat transfer area as well as reducing air-side pressure drop.
