This book describes the impact of parameter charges from a large scale radio propagation model to mobile communication performance for the soft handoff model. The large scale propagation models observed in this book are model Lee, Okumura and Hata, with the propagation parameters used as the dependent variable is the high antenna Base Station (BS) and Mobile Station (MS). While the parameters of mobile communication performance observed were the rate of change of radio link, the drop call rate and the average size of active sets. In chapter three described the method used, namely design method with simulation. In chapter four the simulation results discussed, ie the increase in altitude of BS and MS antenna contributes to the improvements of signal power reception levels, so as to improve radio link quality and increase the average size of active sets and reduce the drop call rate. It also found that Hata's propagation models contributed significantly to improvement in system performance parameters compared to Okumura and Lee propagation model.

Maksum Pinem is lecture on undergraduate and master programs in Electrical Engineering Department, University of North Sumatera, Indonesia. He teaches in the field of telecommunications engineering especially in mobile communications.
