In this work technique for upgrading Reinforced concrete column have been studied with the application of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composite materials. The objective of the rehabilitation is to upgrade the stiffness and ductility of the reinforced concrete column using FRP composite material. The finite element software ANSYS has been used to model and analyze the reinforced concrete column, first without FRP composite material and subsequently with different FRP composite materials. (i) Reinforced concrete column without FRP composite material. (ii) Reinforced concrete column with GFRP composite material. (iii) Reinforced concrete column with CFRP composite material. The Reinforced concrete columns are tested (with and without FRP) by applying static (non-reversal) loads. Performance of Reinforced concrete column and FRP confined Reinforced Concrete column specimens are studied in terms of axial deformation, stress distribution in x, y and z direction and strain distribution in x, y and z direction etc. It is found that the application of FRP on the Reinforced concrete column increases the stiffness and ductility.
