Cold formed steel - Topic(Study on Flexural Capacity of Built-Up I Section with Trapezoidal Web) The effect of flange width on the flexural capacity of cold formed I-section beams with corrugation(trapezoidal) in the web is investigated under two-point static loading with simply supported end conditions. Totally four specimens were fabricated with web corrugation of 40mm and mm to an entire length of specimen. The specimen length is kept constant for 1050mm and flange width varied for 70mm, 80mm, 100mm, 120mm. All the specimens are loaded for a constant pure Bending zone of 335mm. Deflection at various points are measured using LVDT'S. Strain gauge is used at mid span compression flange to measures strain at the point. Load Vs Deflection curves & Load Vs Strain curves position are plotted. The behaviors and failure modes are discussed. The test specimen were modeled using finite element software package (ANSYS) was used to perform nonlinear analysis.
