Le Dr Shafiqul Islam Bhuyan a obtenu sa maîtrise (botanique) à l'Université Gauhati et son doctorat (foresterie) au North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology (NERIST), Nirjuli, Arunachal Pradesh (Inde). Il travaille actuellement comme professeur adjoint au département de botanique de Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Adarsha Mahavidalaya Behali, Assam, Inde.
