The drugs that are being currently used for curing human ailments mainly comprise of several natural products having complex structures. These are derived from terrestrial micro-organisms, plants and animals. The synthetic analogues of the above or other synthetic compounds that are totally non-natural also serve as drugs. Schiff bases can be prepared by the acid catalyzed reaction of amines and aldehydes or ketones. Since it was discovered by Schiff, the imines are often referred as bases. They are condensation products of primary amines with carbonyl compounds, and they were first reported by Hugo Schiff base in 1864. Heterocyclic chemistry is one of the most complex and intriguing branch of organic chemistry and heterocyclic compounds constitute the largest and most varied family of organic compounds.
