This is the place the protagonist, Peter, arrives at, in search of "answers." Thirty-nine, single, white, male, down-and-out, he makes his way to Bayview, in an attempt to discover a sense of purpose, meaning, an abandoned joyfulness I was going to go to Bayview, to the town where I had lived when I was a boy. I was going to encamp myself there, at least for awhile. And I was going to study the landscape. I was going to investigate. I was going to excavate. I was going to dig. Like an archaeologist. Except that I wasn't going to dig for crumbled artifacts, for bits of pottery or arrowheads. I was going to dig for answers.
