This book tells the story of a group of friends who played baseball together for over forty years. We grew old together but never lost that kids-in-the-schoolyard feeling. While there were games that felt patched together, there were others that attained palpable beauty. Good pitching, good-occasionally spectacular-fielding, long home runs, the outcome uncertain until the last out. A few of us had played volleyball and hockey together, but it was baseball that won us for the long haul, a green world with foul lines extending to forever where we grew young again under a summer sky.
