Dan Herod is an author, minister, husband, father, and friend. He loves spending time with his family, staying healthy through exercise, and serving on the local volunteer fire department. His book, Suffer Well, is written from the depths of painful personal experience. In 2011, he and his wife suffered unimaginable loss when their beautiful thirteen-month-old daughter, Peyton, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep. Their journey through the valley of the shadow of death has left its mark on their lives. Dan regularly speaks about this experience in churches, youth groups, and conferences. He lives to help others by sharing his story. Born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, Dan remains a Vikings fan to this day. He is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God (AG). Dan earned a BA in youth ministry and a minor in deaf culture studies from North Central University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His service of over fifteen years in full-time student ministry has given him wonderful opportunities to serve people at the New Life Assembly of God (Plainfield, Wisconsin), the Christian Life Fellowship (Mayville, Wisconsin), and now as the Youth Alive director for the Wisconsin and Northern Michigan Ministries Network of the AG. Dan and his family reside in central Wisconsin, where the summers are breathtakingly beautiful and the winters are so cold, they, too, take your breath away.
